I HAVE NO PLAN TO RETIRE YET – MIKEL OBI

Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has said he did not tell anybody that he wanted to retire from the national football team.

Mikel, who is on vacation in Nigeria launched the catch them young football foundation, meant for discovering young talents in Africa in Lagos where he used the medium to advise kids with talents and interest in the round leather game.

Skippo, as he is fondly called by his team mates debunked the news making the rounds that he wants to quit the national team saying “I want to go to the Nations Cup in Cameroon” Having been around for a long time, he only took a break, to come back stronger.

He said the Super Eagles have a talented bunch of kids who are respectful, loyal, energetic and hardworking, believing that they will go all the way at the next World Cup.

On his project, ‘Nigeria’s Next Football Superstar’, he said it will take off in March, 2019 with indigenous coaches who will later be joined by foreign ones. He believes it is the right time to come back to help the kids on the streets to give back to the society what he gained from them.

Mikel, who is visiting with his wife and twin daughters spoke with ‘Femi and the Gang’ on Nigeria Info 99.3Fm, Lagos on Tuesday.
