AID LIVES TRUST, A Non Governmental Organisation that provides life saving and affirming support for the physically challenged, vulnerable and disadvantaged in the Nigerian society is partnering the Federal Road Safety Commission of Nigeria FRSC in its Ember Months Campaign with the Launch of a programme tagged ‘WHY RUSH?’
Lizzy Egiaye, a trustee of Aid Lives Trust, appeared with Bisi Sonusi, the Acting Public Education Officer of the Lagos Sector of the FRSC on a radio programme, OGA DRIVER on Star 101.5Fm, Lagos, in continuation of the massive sensitization of the public on ‘WHY RUSH?’.
“We focused on the disabled who got their limp or legs amputated. We find out that they are in the hospitals due to one road crash or the other. So we came up with ‘WHY RUSH?’ to sensitize the public, talk to the drivers on ove-speeding because the people who are disabled because of accidents are far greater than the people who actually died in those crashes. We want drivers to know that there isn’t any need to rush, obey the traffic rules, lights and the speed limits. Do not engage in over speeding just because you want to do more trips in a day. The key thing is that there is no need to rush because you will still get there.”
This programme will be launched on Wednesday, 12th of December, 2018 at the AJah, NURTW Motor Park, Lagos. The event will also feature the NDLEA, Red Cross society and LASTMA representatives, who will be in attendance to speak on what you can do to prevent a crash or during a road crash.
Bisi Sonusi expressed delight in having such an NGO whose ideas are compatible with that of FRSC, inviting corporate bodies and other public spirited individuals to come on-board in spreading the gospel according to road safety as they will be welcome with open arms. “Road Safety is Shared responsibility” she added.
‘Oga Driver’, a highly educative and informative radio programme is sponsored by Great Nigeria Insurance Plc.
