THE MOUTH IS THE DIRTIEST PART OF THE BODY – DR. AFOLABI OGUNDERO.

Halitosis is not hereditary.
Bad breath, medically called halitosis can result from poor dental health habits and may be sign of other health problems.
The most common cause of halitosis is bad oral hygiene. If particles of food are left in the mouth, their breakdown by bacteria produces sulfur compound.
According to Dr. Afolabi Ogundero ” Every food that enters the stomach passes through the mouth. Sometimes particles of the food are left to stay in the mouth for a long time. If such particles are not flushed away with water, their breakdown by bacteria produces sulfur compound which emits bad breath”.
” Halitosis will depend on how often you apply water to the mouth. The mouth contains so many bacteria, if you don’t take enough water it could smell horribly. That is why the mouth is the dirtiest part of the body”.
Dr. debunked the myth that halitosis is hereditary. He stated that their are so many food materials including sugar and cigarette which needed to be washed away immediately from the mouth. He advised the individual to visit the dentist as regularly as possible.
” In taking care of halitosis, you have to identify the cause. Cancer and other tissue complications in the mouth are harbinger of bad breath”.
